Obituary of Linda Jean Lewis

Linda Jean Lewis passed away on September 13, 2020 of heart related complication. She was 76 years old. No services will be held at this time. Linda is survived by her husband, Richard Lewis Sr., her sister, Jannette Vignolle and her children, Lynette and Fabio Montejo, Richard and Brandi Lewis Jr., and Lorin Lewis. Linda was known and loved as Mema to her grandchildren, Madelyn Rose Montejo, Luke Fabio Montejo, Evyn Hailea Lewis, Ryan and Allie Clayman, and Flynn Henry Clayman, and her great granddaughter, Lilia Jaye Clayman. She was known as Auntie Linda to her nephews, Michael Venables and Greg Vignolle. Linda Jean Alfieri was born on April 14, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA, to Fred and Rose (DeCorpo) Alfieri and she grew up the middle of two sisters, Toni Venables and Jannette Vignolle. She met Richard at the age of 18 and they married on May 8, 1965. Richard recalls that Linda first caught his eye while driving around in her brand new 1964 Chevy Impala while cruising places like The Clock and The 19 Cent’r (nobody had brand new cars like Linda’s). They also had mutual friends that brought them together camping at Bass Lake, which became a life-long destination for friend and family vacations. Linda has always been very family oriented and made sure to continue the Alfieri traditions, of huge holiday get-togethers with a feast and a place at the table for everyone, long after her parents had passed away. As Mom/Mema/Auntie Linda, she never forgot a birthday or big event. Linda used the term “family” to capture and describe her large and long-lasting group of friends, many she met as a teenager hanging out at Robert’s Drive-In, West LA. She and Richard and these friends raised families together, travelled together, and partied together for a lifetime. This “family” loved spending time snow skiing, boating and camping, making new friends at places like Bass Lake and Mammoth. Linda was retired but had spent the previous 20+ years working at Tumbleweed Day Camp in Brentwood, CA. She loved the people she worked with and the kids that attended the camp and often commented on how she loved having friends of co-workers that were sometimes 30 years younger than herself. Before this she was the proud partner of a small business called Funky Shirts in Van Nuys, CA. She loved and adored her partners and the store community they all created (and card playing). She loved playing cards, bunco, and having lunch with her Birthday Club. She loved to travel with friends and to visit her kids and grandkids. Mema’s great joy was her grandkids and she spent as much time as she could spoiling them, playing games (especially cards but would never lower her ability to let them win), puzzling, babysitting, shopping and loving them. Linda will be missed and is mourned by so many people who have known and loved her for a lifetime.
