The words I would use to describe Aunt Sally are; Sassy Sally, Loving, kind, gentle, always there, funny and full of vinegar! I can still hear her laugh! I can still see her eyes looking at mine. Knowing everything is just fine.

This message is from Donelle: "I would like everyone to know that I also got a lot of cartoons from Sally and I also loved eating her food. We did a lot of fun things together as teenagers. We graduated night school together because I had gotten married. I could go on and on about all our crazy escapades. We were always there for each other and she had the best sense of humor. I'll really miss my buddy."

When Sally was about 15 years old (this was around the summer of 1952, I was 9 and Ron was 7), she was invited to visit our home by my parents. This was an over night stay. We lived in south central LA near Imperial Hwy and Figueroa Street. Having overnight guests was very rare for us because we only had a two bedroom house. My brother and I were not asked to vacate our room so I suspect that Sally slept on the sofa. My mother was stay at home so she had time to entertain our guest. I specifically remember Sally, my mother, my brother and I getting to go out for lunch at a small nearby diner where a hamburger, fries and a drink was 79 cents. My Mom drove us in her car which was a 1941 Ford coupe. This was no fast food joint. You sat at a lunch counter and the cooking stove was right in front. A Coke was served in a glass from a soda fountain dispenser. No bottles. Everything was made to order and it was a special treat for Ron and I too. We seldom ate out, but never missed doing that because nobody else that we knew got to either.
Many years later, Sally related to me how happy she was over the hospitality she received during that visit and that she would always remember it.

Aunt Sally was such a wonderful person, Aunt, and friend to me.
When I was going through a very turbulent time in my life Aunt Sally was there for me and made sure I was safe and secure in life.
She has always been there for anyone who needed a smile, a laugh, comfort and love.
She is a Bright and shinning star in a very dark world.
I thank God for such a wonderful person and Aunt in my life.
