Obituary of Lorraine Mae Olsson

Lorraine Mae Olsson, 90, of Thousand Oaks, California passed away peacefully at her home on August 26, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Tillie Toso, brothers-Eugene, Sherman, Roger Dale, and Stanley, and sisters Gloria and Delores. She is survived by her husband Hans Torsten Olsson, her daughter Becky Garske-Mendoza (Nicolas), grandsons Chase Mendoza (Maya) and Darek Mendoza, her bothers Marvin (Carol), Leroy, Darrell (Beckie), Clarence Jr. (Linda), and her sisters Shirley, Joan and Sandra (Gary). Lorraine was born May 21, 1932 in Esmond, North Dakota. She married Francis John Garske at the age of 17 and moved to southern California where her daughter Becky was born in 1957. They moved to Thousand Oaks, California in 1964. She divorced in 1968. She worked for Purolator and kept in shape by playing ping pong on her lunch break and dancing in the living room with Becky after work! She met Hans at Oak Leaf Lodge No. 685 Vasa Order of America of which she was a charter member. They were married in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, CA on August 17, 1973. After Becky left for college, she began working at Robinson's in the hand bag department where her love of shopping flourished! She and Torsten also built a cabin in Bear Valley Springs, working tirelessly every weekend. She was very active in Vasa and Sons of Norway for many years, cooking and baking for nearly every event. She was very giving to her family, taking care of her younger brothers and sisters, always offering to help anyone in need. She often helped her daughter and son-in law with their business and babysitting without hesitation. She loved spending birthdays and holidays with her family. Watching her grandsons grow up and attending their school plays and band performances, along with soccer, basketball and football games, was her greatest joy. She will be truly missed . We know she will be singing and dancing in heaven with her loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, CA on October 15, 2022 at 1 pm.
