Please share a memory of Sondra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sondra "Cindy" Joan Fishbein was born on January 12, 1935, to Adeline (April) and Louis (Lou) Fishbein in Albany, New York. Her younger sister, Carol was born 3 years later. Sondra was an excellent student and was accepted to UCLA when she was 18. It was there she met her first husband, Ken with whom she had two daughters, Lorna and Victoria, before she divorced at 21. She met the love of her life, Bernard "Pumpkin" Krakower, about 11 years later when they married and blended their two families, with three girls, Sondra’s 2 daughters: Victoria and Lorna from her first marriage, and Bernie’s daughter Ariela.
Sondra then went back to school at Loyola Marymount University and received her Master of Arts degree with honors in Clinical Psychology. She was a talented and busy psychotherapist (Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor) for years in Brentwood, California, she was also certified in hypnotherapy. She wrote a column for The Brentwood News titled "Sondra Says" where she would give advice to people - something she really loved to do. She also loved to travel, and fly, and even obtained her pilot's license. She loved politics, puzzles, holistic health, intellectual challenges and puzzles. She was a proud member of the Mensa Society.
Sondra was happily married to Bernie for nearly 50 years. Together they had busy careers and were very active socially, and in the community. She continued to practice as a therapist part time until her time of passing, serving generations of happy patients. She and Bernie also loved their cats, Joey and Chance. Sondra passed away peacefully on April 14, 2022, poetically her 54th wedding anniversary with Bernie. Sondra is survived by her three daughters: Lorna, Victoria and Ariela, her grandsons: Jonathan, Auston, Michael, Pele, and Asif, and her great Granddaughter Evie.
Sondra will be remembered for her youthful and striking beauty, her strong intellect, her political activism, and her love of learning, reading, cooking, health and wellness, classical music, and for helping others. She will be enormously missed.
