Obituary of Darlene Kim Vasquez

Darlene Kim Vasquez, 57, of Castaic, California passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Darlene was born on August 31, 1966 in Queens, New York to the late Gene and Ruth Rein. She grew up in East Rockaway, Long Island with her parents and her siblings: brothers Ray and Jeff and sister Ruth. She graduated from East Rockaway High School in 1984. Darlene attended Nassau College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an A.A. in Liberal Arts/Psychology in 1987 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with A.S. in Business Administration in 1989. She also attended Adelphi University in New York where she earned a B.A. in Business Management and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors in 1991. After moving to Los Angeles in the mid 90's, Darlene met the love of her life Virgil Vasquez in 1998 and they married on April 23, 2001. She had worked in the insurance/business world for several years before following her passion and dream of having her own private yoga studio. She trained clients privately in yoga and fitness training for over 20 years. To those who knew Darlene she was loving, spiritual, and a kind spirit, wickedly intelligent, funny -had a great laugh, passionate about helping people, loved animals and was deeply committed to her husband. She is survived by her loving husband Virgil, Father-in-law Virgilio Vasquez, Mother-in-law Pia Vasquez, Sisters-in-law Mayra Del Villar and Gretchen Vasquez, her beloved cats Thunder and Bella - and her brother Jeff and sister Ruth. She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Ruth Rein and her brother Raymond Scott. A private ceremony was held on February 9, 2024. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to make a donation in Darlene's memory to the American Diabetes Association. Darlene's memory will always be in our hearts.
