The address is: 5753 105th Street West Rosamond, CA 93560 Call if you need directions…GPS not that reliable! 661-816-3678 661-816-1536 She was a great example, showing all of us how to grow old. During her last year she woke up every day with a smile and a bright “good morning”. Every night she gave kisses and love. She was a trooper and she will be missed. Eve was 90 years old. She had a never ending curiosity about everything. She was living in London when World War II broke out. It was a terrifying experience. The children were sent to stay on a farm with relatives for their safety. Eventually the family relocated to Truro, Cornwall. Eve went to St. Michael’s Mount, an all girls boarding school. By 1948 the family was able to emigrate from England to America. She had some adventures with her brother Vic on the voyage to the U.S. There was a hurricane and they had great fun watching the waves. They remembered watching from the port holes, and up on the deck. The rest of the family was seasick, so they got to run free all over the ship. The family arrived at Grand Central Station and Eve was enchanted by the cowboys who were there for the Rodeo Finals. She was sure the Wild West was just outside the New York City. They settled in Jackson Heights, New York. She had a friend named Rita who rode the subway with her to Ebbets Field to watch the Dodgers play. Her favorite players were Jackie Robinson & Pee Wee Reese. Rita’s favorite was Gil Hodges. They both loved to play baseball, and were very good at it. They were invited to play on a women’s team on Long Island, but didn’t have the transportation to get there. Eve was so disappointed. The family moved to Mamaroneck in 1952, and Eve commuted into the city to work. In Mamaroneck she met and fell in love with her husband Stanley. He was a member of a very big family from Northern Ireland, and she happily joined the group. She had great memories of time spent with her husband’s family. We would all love to hear stories from that time. They moved to Hokendauqua, PA with their children around 1960. It wasn’t her favorite place to be, away from friends and family. Her sister in law & best friend Phyllis and family had moved to California. It wasn’t long before Eve and her family moved there too. The two families settled in Camarillo, California. Eve’s family lived in 5 different homes in Camarillo while raising their family. Eve had 6 children & numerous foster children. She had lots of sister and brother in laws, and many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. Throughout these years Eve and Phyllis stayed close, and their children were raised together. Her brother Victor also moved to California, and her baby brother Michael visited often with his wife Kathy. Eventually most of her family on both sides moved to California. At one point Stanley’s job took them to live in England. She lived there on a farm in Sussex with her 5 children. Everyone was welcome to visit from the states. She had visits from her niece Lesley and Brenda’s great friend Patty. She traveled to Ireland and France as well as all over the UK during that time. It was a complete change & a lot of fun. Eve and Stanley moved out into the Antelope Valley in the 1980’s. They eventually decided to go their separate ways. Shortly after that Eve met the cowboy of her dreams. His name was Virgil Stone, and he was a bull rider! They married and made their home in Rosamond. They even had bull riding lessons in their back yard! We thought it was scary, but she was very happy during that time. Sadly she lost her cowboy to cancer in 1987. Eve made two trips to China with her church group to smuggle Bibles. She was happy to take one change of clothing in a small bag and stay for days. She loved the adventure, and had great stories to tell. After losing Virgil, Eve spent a summer with her 3 grandchildren, Demitri, Amber & Patrick, in Tehachapi. They all had a great time, and she taught them how to play card games, gambling for peanuts and lima beans. Eve sold her house in Rosamond and moved to Tehachapi. From there she was able to get a job at Edwards Air Force Base at the Rocket Site. She was a secretary there and made many good friends. She learned to speak Russian during that time in order to help with translating at her job. She was loved and admired there. Her parents stayed with her in Tehachapi for a while. Eventually they moved to Florida, but her mother came back to live with her after her father passed away. After she retired, she lived in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, near her son Trevor and his wife Christine and their children. Her daughter Lisa lived there with her too. They had some good years in Arkansas. Eve had no problem driving to California by herself to visit, and then back again. Eve and Lisa moved back to California in the 90’s. They settled in Ventura and were there for more than 10 years. Eve loved to read and was a student of the Bible, always seeking the truth. She was a great customer of Amazon, and had at least 3 Kindles going at all times. She left us a legacy of over 1,000 books on her Kindle account. In 2014 Eve moved back to the high desert and settled at Mayflower Gardens in Lancaster. Eve was living alone for the first time, and it suited her. She had fun cooking and keeping up with her little dog. Erin came in a few days a month to help her keep up with things, and soon she became a good friend. Eve made monthly trips to Ventura see her brother Victor and his partner Toni, and to visit Lisa. Lisa moved to Mayflower Gardens around 2021, and they spent some good times together. Eve never met a stranger, and collected many friends during those years. She was so pleased that Marlene and Pat still kept in touch with her over the last year. Also, she was so happy that Krystal came to stay with her at night. They became very close. She was always happy to see a new face, and curious to hear all about their life. For the last 2 years her brother Michael and sister in law Kathy came from Florida to celebrate her birthday. In 2023 we all went to Red Lobster and she enjoyed a very big lobster at her birthday party. As usual she was the life of the party, and made all of us happy to be there. All of the holidays and birthdays were spent together with kids, grandkids & great grandkids. She always relished those holidays. Her grandchildren Patrick and Amber, who lived nearby, were very involved in her life. Their families were always available to help with anything she wanted or needed. Her oldest grandchild Demitri was her great champion, and gave her unlimited love and attention. She would want us to leave you with the motto that she and Phyllis lived by: “Always leave ‘em laughing!” Eve is survived by her Daughter Brenda Segal (Mike) grandchildren Demitri Segal (Andrina), Patrick Segal (Silvia), Amber McGuire (Jason) and Theresa Kurczewski Son Trevor Harris (Christine) and grandchildren Trevor and Percella, daughter Tina Leal and grandchildren Robert and Andrea, Daughter in law Karen McArthur granddaughters Michelle Hysell and Erin Harris, Brother Michael Feldon (Kathy) Eve had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
