Obituary of Lydia (Baldauf) Fidyk

Please share a memory of Lydia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hand in hand, through skies so wide, They laugh and run, love’s light their guide. No weight of time, no tear, no pain, Just golden fields and soft refrain. Forever young, their spirits soar, In Heaven’s glow—love evermore. Lydia Fidyk was born on September 4, 1923, in Austria. She spoke often and fondly of her parents and many siblings, cherishing the memories of her early years. Though she lived through the hardships of war and its aftermath, she always carried a positive spirit, especially when reminiscing about her beloved family. In Austria, Lydia met the love of her life, her late husband, Edward. They married in 1961, and in 1963, she embarked on a new journey, immigrating to America. A hardworking woman throughout her life, Lydia faced every challenge with a smile. She was a great housewife who took pride in her home, always ensuring it was a warm and welcoming place. Lydia had a deep love for animals—dogs, canaries, and cats filled her home with joy. She even cared for others' pets, creating lasting bonds. Rudy, our dog, still remembers her door and the love she showed him when we entrusted her with his care during our travels to Europe. A kind and thoughtful soul, Lydia never forgot a birthday or special occasion, always sending cards and warm wishes. She became like a grandmother to our children, filling a cherished role in their lives after their own grandmothers had passed. In her later years, Lydia’s memory began to fade, but her spirit remained as bright as ever. Even in her final weeks at Oakmont of Simi Valley Retirement Home, she greeted the world with a smile, endearing herself to the caregivers who adored her. Lydia celebrated her remarkable 101st birthday last September. Though she is no longer with us, her kindness, strength, and joyful spirit will forever live in our hearts. A funeral service to honor Lydia’s life and legacy will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley (1380 Fitzgerald Rd, Simi Valley, CA 93065). She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
